Three Gorges Dam is the largest hydropower station in the world. It started construction in 1994, began to store water for power generation on June 1, 2003, and was completed in 2009.
Three Gorges dam has a total investment of 95.46 billion yuan, high 185m, whose impounded level is 175m and reservoir is 2335 meters long. As well as producing electricity, the dam is intended to increase the Yangtze River’s shipping capacity and reduce the potential for floods downstream by providing flood storage space. The Chinese government regards the project as a historic engineering, social and economic success, and a move toward limiting greenhouse gas emissions.
The bedrock of three Gorges Dam is hard granite, high-intensity with a smaller-scale fractures. Sinorock® rock bolt can effectively play a supporting role in enhancing the carrying capacity of the surrounding rock, which can ensure the overall stability of the surrounding rock.
